Cooking spaces project nearing completion

 

Food Technology at NMBEC will never quite be the same again ! After securing £300,000 of funding via the Cooking Spaces programme, these 2 rooms are receiving a massive overhaul and facelift.
Both Food Technology rooms are being refurbished to allow for the teaching of GCSE and A Level Food Technology as well as allowing the development of Hospitality and Catering which will be offered this year to Yr 9 students for the first time.

Food Tech 1 is already finished and in use and some of the students have commented that :

“Wow - it is so big “

“Love the different colours and stainless steel worktops”

“It's just like the Star Trek Enterprise”

This room has remote controlled height adjustable benches to accommodate disabled students as well as some really funky coloured cabinets and cupboards (Hot Pink, Mint and Cyan !).  FT2 has gone with a more zesty Hot Pink, Lime Green and Orange colour scheme !

Our contractors, Woodside Contract Services Ltd, have worked closely with our architects Feilden Clegg Bradley and Project Managers (Edu PM Ltd) to incorporate all of the ideas of our own Food Technology staff to design a space that will allow all students to cook at the same time in a modern, state of the art practical space.  We are grateful to them all for the time and attention to detail they have put into this project on our behalf.
