Sociology

Sociology is fast growing and rapidly becoming a popular option for KS5 learners.

The subject gives learners the opportunity to examine the society they live in from a sociological perspective based on theories, concepts and studies.
 
Students will study four units as outlined:
 
AS: G671- Exploring socialisation, Culture and Identity
Externally set examination taken in January
 
G672-Sociology of the Family
Externally set exam taken in May/June
 
A2: G673-Power and Control-Crime and Deviance
Externally set examination take in January.
 
G674-Exploring Social Inequality and Difference
Externally set examination taken in May/June
 
Career Advice and Guidance:
The Social Science faculty works closely with the careers department to provide our learners with progression advice into further and higher education. The skills acquired from Health and Social Care work placements, also help our students to become more employable when they leave college.
