Content
Business Studies draws on a variety of disciplines and can be studied with any subject combination e.g. medicine, pharmacy, languages, law, mathematics, education, art etc. Careers based around these subjects would usually benefit from a knowledge of business organisations and how they work.
Assessment
(Any of the modules can be examined in January or June).
AS Exams
Unit 1 – Planning and Financing a Business
Short answer questions and extended responses based on a mini case study. 1 hour 15 minutes - written exam – 20% of AS level grade.
Unit 2 – Managing a Business
Multipart data response questions. 1 hour 30 minutes - written exam – 30% of AS Level grade.
A2 Exams
Unit 3– Strategies for Success
Questions requiring extended answers based on an unseen case study.
1 hour 45 minutes – written exam – 25% of A2 Level grade.
Unit 4 – Business Environment and Managing Change.
Prerelease research tasks, leading to first section of 2 section exam. Second section will consist of a choice of essays. All questions will be essay style and synoptic, therefore drawing upon knowledge from all 4 units. 1 hour and 45 minutes – written paper – 25% of A2 level grade.
Special Requirements GCSE Business Studies at grade B or above.
