ICT / Business faculty overview

 

 

 

 

The ICT/BS dept has 6 fully equipped specialist rooms, each having a full class set of PCs, a fixed electronic whiteboard with data projector, a colour printer, a black and white laser printer and a scanner.The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Business Faculty offers students a range of stimulating learning opportunities through a variety of courses at Key Stage 4 and 5. As well as practical skills, students develop important skills for the workplace such as planning and organisation of work, problem solving, presentation, identifying client’s needs, producing solutions and evaluating what has been developed.                                                                                                            

ICT at Key Stage 3

Skills learned at Key Stage 3 drive achievement at Key stage 4 and 5. NMBEC aims to make ICT as fun as creative as possible, by allowing students to develop skills that can be used both at home and at work. 
 
As well as traditional ICT skills such as Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Databases there are opportunities for graphics work, website design and video editing. At NMBEC there are many chances for students to use ICT as a creative outlet from exploring Animation in Flash, using graphics software such as Photoshop and making and editing movies in Serif.

ICT/BS Options at Key Stage 4

Students in Years 10 and 11 can choose from the following options within the faculty:

  • GCSE Business Studies 
  • GCSE Business & Communication Systems
  • GCSE ICT
  • Level 2 OCR in ICT
  • Level 2 NFTE (National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship)

  • AS/A2 Business Studies
  • AS/A2 Applied ICT
  • AS/A2 ICT
  • AS/A2 Economics
