Content

A highly practical and creative modular course specialising in various areas of textile design including interior design, constructed textiles and fashion design.

The A2 course continues to develop and advance students textile design skills and understanding further from AS Level with a greater emphasis on personal and professional working.

Assessment

At AS level, 2 units are completed. One is a coursework (sketchbook) based project and involves working to a personalised set brief using  a wide range of mediums to investigate and develop skills and techniques culminating with a finished fashion or interior product.

The other final unit is a controlled design and make project set by AQA towards the end of the year.  The coursework unit accounts for 50% of marks, with the controlled test making up the remaining 50% of AS marks.

At A2 level, a further 2 units are completed.  The first is an internally set sketchbook project in which students research and justify their own personal areas of study.  The unit involves self directed exploration of designing and making, culminating with a finished fashion or interior product.

The other final unit is a controlled design and make project set externally by AQA.  The personal study project accounts for 50% of A2 marks, with the controlled test making up the remaining 50%.
