Norbury Manor Girls' High School

The department occupies the major part of the East Wing of the school and is to be found on 2 levels. The first floor contains a large Prep Room, 4 Labs and additional Resource Areas. One of these labs has been customised to accommodate the A level teaching of Biology and Physics. The second floor has 2 further Labs and another Prep Room. All of our science staff have access to the departments ICT resource areas and we have recently had Interactive Whiteboards and projectors fitted as an aid to teaching.

The department is well resourced and staff are encouraged to adopt a practical approach to the teaching of science. Each laboratory is stocked with its own supply of general apparatus and glassware. Specialist pieces of equipment are held in the central preparation rooms. There are numerous textbooks available in class sets for use in lessons. The department also has access to several computers for data logging and information retrieval.

The Science department organises a number of visits relevant to the courses being studied, examples include:

* Year 7 visit to London Zoo

* Key Stage 4 fieldtrips

* Key Stage 5 fieldtrips
