We are a small department with a great enthusiasm for teaching Geography. Our Key Stage 3 schemes of work cover a variety of human and physical geography and we encourage an enquiry based approach.
Our students develop their geographical skills and knowledge through the study of physical processes, human activity and the geography of differing locations.
Key Stage 3 prepares students for the skills needed at GCSE where the focus of study is people and the environment and how they interrelate and impact on each other.
We also offer AS and A2 Geography in the Sixth Form and the popularity is growing. They follow the EDEXCEL B syllabus which again focuses on the interrelationship between the human and physical environments. The syllabus also aims to develop a critical understanding of the issues facing our world today.
The geography department is committed to both the use of ICT and fieldwork as mediums of teaching. The introduction of the new Interactive Whiteboard in the department has led to many changes in the teaching methodologies of the department which enhances the learning experiences of the students.
All students at Key Stage 4 and 5 participate in fieldwork to develop the skills needed for coursework.
