Foreword

Welcome to NMBEC sixth form where all students, whatever their ability, are part of a college community which is happy and successful. Our core purpose is to provide an excellent Post-16 education for all students. Our examination results, our Value-Added scores, and our most recent Ofsted Inspection of the sixth form, all testify to our continued success.

We believe strongly in educating the whole person in a happy, caring environment which is underpinned by a strong work ethic. The emphasis is on helping students to not only reach, but also extend their potential, thereby building on their previous successes and moving on to University or a career of their choice.

Excellent teaching, small groups, comprehensive careers guidance and high quality pastoral care ensure that every student flourishes as a young adult in an environment that is structured, progressive and challenging.

As well as providing a natural progression route for our own Year 11 students, we attract Post-16 students from a wide catchment area. From September 2010, with the opening of our new multi million pound Sixth Form Block, we will be able to offer unrivalled facilities for all students. This development gives us the capacity to accommodate the growth in the sixth form numbers that we have experienced over recent years. The new building creates an exciting step-change in the opportunities we can offer our local young people and builds on our existing reputation of a centre of excellence for Post-16 study.
