NMBEC gained Applied Learning status in April 2008. This enabled us to be more innovative with curriculum design and teaching/learning.
We aim to use this specialism to further develop our students so that they become independent learners through high quality work-related, employability and enterprise programmes. In particular, we will utilise Deep Learning Days to facilitate the development of PLTS (Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills).
At KS4 and 5 the curriculum will enable students to have a wide range of choices, to individualise their own learning, through the college offer and local collaboration.
We are taking a leading role in 14-19 curriculum design and involvement in Diploma development and through our networks will share good practice with other schools and colleges.
NMBEC will continue to build links with the world of work and universities in order to enhance the curriculum and to provide students with up-to–date information on pathways to university and work.
